Emotion Ocean

The concept of the Emotion Ocean is based on the idea that our emotions come in waves, and sometimes we need to find ways to ground in ourselves to help ride those waves. 🌊
This poster is intended for use in spaces where there are children, aged 2-6, which is when our kids begin to better understand how to utilize different tools to manage their emotions. Using the poster is easy, and can look different depending on the context.
I use this poster as a way to guide my toddler in figuring out ways to address difficult emotions, by helping her identify her own emotions, and putting names to them. As she grows older, she will hopefully be able to use the poster on her own to seek out different methods of regulation - and then not need it at all! 🙌🏽

Breathing + Grounding
I also made two other posters centered around breathing and grounding!
My breathing poster reminds us of 3 different types of breathing patterns that we can choose from to calm difficult emotions: bee breathe, dragon breathe, and the five finger breathe. (click each for a video example!)
My grounding poster reminds us that we can ground with our 5 senses, asking us to look for: 5 things we can see, 4 things we can hear, 3 things we can touch, 2 things we can smell, and 1 thing we can taste.
